Introducing San Diego
No place embodies Southern California’s easygoing charm better than San Diego. Year-round sunshine and 70 miles of coastline draw surfers to San Diego’s beaches, while a booming craft-beer scene and Downtown’s Little Italy and Gaslamp Quarter attract foodies and culture buffs. Local culinary specialties include fresh seafood, carne asada and street tacos. San Diego’s Mexican-American heritage can be felt in Old Town’s streets, and the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier and museum, points to the city’s military history.
San Diego attractions and sightseeing
Balboa Park, on the outskirts of Downtown, contains lush gardens, theaters, museums and Renaissance-style Casa de Balboa. The park’s most popular attraction is the sprawling San Diego Zoo, the most-visited zoo in America. Another landmark is Coronado Bridge, which connects Downtown to Coronado Island. Blade, skate or cycle along Mission Beach boardwalk, or take in views of San Diego all the way to Mexico’s Tijuana from Point Loma.
